City of Coquitlam Water Restrictions Stage 3 effective June 8.
Under Coquitlam’s Drinking Water Conservation Plan (Bylaw 4838), Stage 3 restrictions prohibit washing impermeable surfaces except for health or safety reasons, surface preparation for painting or similar treatment, or aesthetic cleaning by a commercial cleaner. Metro Vancouver Water Restrictions
Stage 2 water restrictions in Metro Vancouver began May 1, 2026. Washing impermeable surfaces is prohibited except for health or safety reasons, surface preparation for painting or similar treatment, or aesthetic cleaning by a commercial cleaner. Metro Vancouver will temporarily move to Stage 3 on June 8, with a return to Stage 2 expected in late July. Pressure Washing under Stage 3 of impermeable surfaces is permitted only when required for health and safety reasons or for surface preparation (e.g. prior to painting or treatments) when performed by commercial cleaner.
Each Metro Vancouver municipality sets its own rules, and City of Coquitlam’s Stage 3 water restriction bylaw follows the same rules in place as Stage 2.

Construction of the Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel is one of the main reasons Metro Vancouver is implementing Stage 3 water restrictions. To support this work, part of the regional water system was temporarily isolated, and the First Narrows Crossing taken offline. This main pipe carries drinking water from the North Shore mountains into the regional system. Metro Vancouver expects to restore the First Narrows Crossing in July.
